ON THE JACE CASTING TOPIC: I don’t know much, but I do know that after auditioning a lot of people, known and unknown, they are starting to narrow down the field to a smaller number of “finalists” (not that it’s a reality show game.) That most of the actors they seem to like best are British or Australian. That the actors have to test with Lily for chemistry anyway as part of the process. That there is no set date for “announcing” Jace because they haven’t chosen him and even when they do, they’ll still have to negotiate a contract, etc.
As a side note, yes, I do know Alex Pettyfer signed up to play a stripper in a movie that’s in development. As to how this impacts him being Jace, honestly, I am not going to speculate. I don’t know more than you do. He was offered the Jace role, along with The Last Apprentice and other roles, a long time ago. Obviously all these projects have to keep moving ahead whatever he does. There are a lot of great options for Jace, both known actors and less known ones and I’m glad the producers are looking at a wide range of people before deciding.
If you be my star
I’ll be your sky
Early this morning, Alex Pettyfer did a Twitter Interview (his 1st!) with @GlamourMagUK, of COURSE they asked about Jace Wayland’s role! His response:
Q: Are you going to play Jace Wayland in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones? (by @ShadowGirl_)
A: Love the books. I can’t tell you anymore than that at the moment.
The entire interview can be seen at Glamour. And PS…Alex does NOT have a Twitter account. Imposters be shamed!
“SHADOWHUNTERS : Looking Better in Black Than the widows of our Enemies Since 1234.” - Jace Wayland City of Bones
This adorable little thing is the off spring of
Alex Pettyfer and Lily Collins Jace Wayland/Herondale/Morgenstern/Lightwood/ect and Clary Fray. Just get this little cutie some red curles and she’s ready to go. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that one day, this little girl is going to make a very badass Shadowhunter.
After finishing up interviews with the cast of Priest at WonderCon, I chatted (informally, not an interview) with Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper about the film’s conversion to 3D and about another one of the studio’s upcoming huge projects: The Mortal Instruments. Culpepper said Priest’s conversion to the format will have all the naysayers changing their minds, and even upped the budget to ensure the 3D version would look stunning and win over audiences. And, although I’m not a fan of 3D (the glasses are distracting and most 3D films are too dark), the extra time and money invested in Priest looks like it’s paid off. Footage screened at WonderCon looked incredible, and it’s impossible to tell the film wasn’t shot in the format in the first place.
Culpepper also confirmed he’s still very interested in getting Alex Pettyfer signed up to play Jace in The Mortal Instruments. Culpepper admires Pettyfer and believes he has what it takes to take on one of the lead roles in the film. The two have been exchanging texts, which Culpepper showed to me, about The Mortal Instruments, and the door appears to be wide open if Pettyfer wants to step up and take on the part. And although Pettyfer’s had a fair share of bad press recently, Culpepper says the 20 year old actor isn’t cocky at all.
As for the timing of The Mortal Instruments, Lily Collins (‘Clary’) will be working on Snow White prior to filming The Mortal Instruments which does allow the studio and director Scott Stewart more time to either get Pettyfer signed on or find another actor to fill the pivotal role.
Now I do think that Alex Pettyfer would play a “good” Jace in the Mortal Instruments series and I know that he had a lot support for him to play the part. Their some who are upset that he seems unenthusiastic about the part but let me say you that he just stared in 2 movies that have come out this year(2011) within under a month of each other, Beastly(March 4, 2011) and I am Number 4 (February 18, 2011) . And I believe he is in another one called Now that is in post-production. He seems pretty busy at the moment promoting these movies and maybe he doesn’t want to take up the big role. So let’s give him a break. He can take any role he wants to play(though asking for 10 mill is dickish of him if this is even true). There are other wonderful actors just as good if not better to play Jace so let’s cheer on someone else since he probably isn’t going to play the part (hopefully I would like someone else. As to who, I don’t know.)
I just had to get that off my chest because it was bothering me when I saw that someone said that he was unenthusiastic about the part or wasn’t honored by the support. We really don’t know if he wasn’t polite about turning down the role and who said he wasn’t grateful about the support (unless some else has him being an ass about it documented). We really don’t know him, so we don’t know if he really is a douche. I hate to judge someone I have never met. In fact he might actually have gotten he part because they STILL haven’t told (or decided) who they have cast to play Jace (though I’m sorta hoping it’s not him. sorry Alex Pettyfer lovers.)
